Well, it sure feels good to get back into writing. I did certainly miss it. Funny how writers block can leave just as quickly as it arrives. Hopefully I have seen the last of that particular dysfunction for quite some time.

I again have to offer my sincere apologies for falling off of the horse with my writing, and also for my error that caused confusion with my last week's blog posting. Seems I forgot how to count - I just plain ran out of fingers!

Thanks again for all the wonderful emails of encouragement - I really appreciate the time that people take to write to me - It is overwhelming to say the least!

I am finding less endless time to write this time of the year - the work outdoors is seemingly endless - The renovations are not helping any either - I will get back on a steady routine as things calm down, but unfortunately right now, things are crazy.

Funny thing - The Guard character that is about to meet his untimely demise - Craig - is named after a fellow that I work with. It holds absolutely no meaning, and the real Craig is a really super great guy - just seems funny to give his name to a character that gets killed off - Sorry Craig, absolutely nothing is meant by it, buddy... Heheheh.... really....

Sorry for the long absence - The wedding was wonderful, and life simply could not be better! I took an extra week away from writing to enjoy my family, and just to enjoy life overall...

We have had an addition to our family - Bailey (Mojo) Moses - A seven week old Shih Tzu puppy who is the cutest little thing - he now keeps me company as I write, and is the perfect addition to the family. What a little cutie!

Well, onward with the story - the regular posting schedule will now be back in place after this much needed rest, and the story will now progress....

Grandma Rose decides - It's time to fill Mark in on the horrible family secret... Is he ready?

Sorry for the delay - I am now only 12 days away from my wedding where I officially become the luckiest man in the world, and marry the absolute love of my life, Bonny. We have been busy, to say the least with all the preparations and such. I am sooo happy, and a little confused as to why someone as wonderful as her would marry a schmuck like me... I can only hope that she doesn't get her eyes tested prior to the wedding on the 30th...LOL!

I will be taking a bit of a break from the Novel as Friends and Family are coming from the other side of Canada, so I will be giving them my full attention and enjoying life for the next 25 days or so... I will come back after a much needed break, and we will get to the absolute meat of the story... It will be well worth the wait... The next post can be expected on the 15th of July...

Hang in there, and wish me luck! This is truly the happiest point in my life!

Chapter Illustrations have been Posted!

Thanks for all the wonderful emails and comments on YouTube - I have great news!

The illustrations for each chapter (Up to and including Chapter 5 so far) have been posted - Including a spooky drawing of "The Dark Man" on the inside cover - I will make them clickable to a high res version once Peter Inks the finals - but as for now, I simply could not wait. More chapter art to come!

The thing that gets me is that the picture that Peter drew of the dark man is really not too far off - oh well, no sleep for me tonight...(sigh)...

Take a look, and see what a GREAT job that Artist Peter Francis did! (Spooky indeed...) I love the Clothes Thing, (chapter 4) and the Picture (Chapter 5) - Awesome!

I will be posting them very soon, and it will be one for every chapter - Also, there are three interpretations of the Dark Man - I can't wait for everybody to see them, and let me know what you think... Well, the writing is back on track - My new job has stirred up my schedule and is making it difficult to write, but I will settle into the new routine...

The new people that I work with are awesome! The new job is a dream, and the learning curve is high, but I will master it before long. I do have to say, what an absolutely great bunch of people that I now work with! I have been out of that field (Computers) for about 8 years now, but it is starting to come back to me now... Funny how you can forget even the most basic of commands when you don't think about them for so long - the first week, I felt like a complete idiot! But the cobwebs are starting to clear, and thinks will go fine, I'm sure. It's kinda like riding a bike - (A geek bike...) Heheheh....

I think that due to my new schedule, I will start posting on every SUNDAY now, rather than Saturdays... It gives me an extra day that I need to get the pages all together.... Sorry about that....

Hi Gang,

My profound apologies - as I stated last week, due to a new job that I started Tuesday past, I was unable to do any work on the novel this past week - the new job has kept me fairly busy, but it is a fantastic career opportunity that I cannot afford to give less than my full attention - As with all jobs, routine will be settling in soon, and I will get back to regular posting next week (perhaps even sooner if I am able...)

Thanks again for all the emails of encouragement, I am absolutely overwhelmed by the show of support, and what can I say? I am humbled...

I am going to try and post the Eastlink Magazine TV Interview today. I think that the best way will be to put it into the beginning of the Novel, probably on page 3 or 4 so that it will be watchable that way - I may try Youtube, but don't want to get in trouble - Copyright issues and all - I will check into it a bit...

A very cool thing is becoming popular that I may want to take a bit of a try at. It seems that there is a new thing called "Cellywood" where short 10 minute videos are produced to be downloaded and viewed on Cell Phones, and other such small screened mobile devices - Given the fantastic Trailer done by Rob Wright (AKA Robbie Dingo in Second Life) It is a natural transition. I am going to produce an episode or two and see how it goes over. If it goes as planned, corporate sponsors or private donations will fund further episodes, and after a while, it could become the first ever movie produced exclusively for cell phones... As you can probably tell, I love technology, and doing things that nobody else does...

Lots of work ahead, so better get at it - I start a new job in real life next week, so I may not get a chance to post next week, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it... I may have time, but I don't know yet...

Not much to write about today - Work as usual, writing as usual - I have a new job that starts in a week and a half, so I am pretty excited about that. There is a composer/musician in California just sent me his Debut CD with the intentions of composing original music for the website - Cool! Also, Peter is working on the Illustrations, so that is something very cool to look forward to - he is one talented dude. I wonder how he sees / draws the Dark Man - Is it even close to what I saw? The suspense is killing me...

I should have a copy of the TV interview soon - I will post it here as soon as I do... Stay tuned!

After a very looooong wait, the TV interview finally airs!

It's showing on Eastlink Magazine, channel 10 in the Halifax region. Barbara, who did a wonderful job on editing it all together (Thanks for everything Barbara!), has also gave me a schedule of when it will be playing over the next few days. As follows;

My profound apologies for missing last weeks posting, but when things regarding family arise, it will always take top priority, as it rightfully should.

Another milestone has been reached - 200 pages have been surpassed! Whoda thunk it? I am getting lots of email these days (Thanks to everybody who writes in - Joanna, hang in there!) - the site traffic to the Novel is increasing every month, and the TV interview is soon coming. I was just informed last week that the Second Life Trailer (The one at the very bottom of this page that resides on YouTube) is going to be featured on Second Life's Web page! Only 6.5 million people worldwide go there on a regular bases - nothing major ...

YAH RIGHT! That's AWESOME! The exposure for Robbie Dingo and the Novel will be HUGE! This will be a turning point, that's for sure!

Well, It is always bound to happen. Despite the best laid plans, sometimes life throws you a curve ball, and things do not always go the way that they should.

I have experienced a family crisis of sorts that has required my entire attention for nearly the past week. Because of the urgency, I was unable to do the necessary work to post this weeks 7 pages. I will be back on track next week, but attention to the family is still required.

Mark's stepfather's vice gets out of hand, but at what price?

Wow, what a week - my entire family has been struck down with that cold that's going around - which made for a very unpleasant week, to say the least. It is surely miserable, as you well know.

And talk about truth being stranger than fiction - I have gained a new respect for Friday the Thirteenth. I was on my way to work yesterday morning, and there was a snow/rain/freezing rain storm happening that made for terrible driving conditions. I noticed that the heat was not working, and I resolved to get that checked out on the weekend. On the radio, they were talking about all the bad luck that people have on this day - I reached down to turn the volume up a bit, and noticed that all of a sudden, the heat gage went to overheat. My dash lit up with warning lights. I managed to drive to a garage, where they put my minivan up on the hoist, and showed me the problem - I had blown both head gaskets, front and back. About a two and a half thousand dollar stroke of bad luck. As if that wasn't bad enough, a little later in the day, my son took his car in for a safety inspection, and as it turns out, the same thing was ready to happen with his! They are leaking, and need to be replaced as well - Yikes! Two vehicles, both with the same very expensive problem, both on Friday the thirteenth!

Needless to say, I went home and went to bed and stayed there. It's safe there....

While I wait to get my van out of the shop, its a good opportunity to do some writing. Till next week!

Pete, the fellow who will be doing the illustrations for the Novel, got back last week from the horror writer's convention in Toronto. Apparently it was a big success, and Pete sold some of his artwork. I'm not surprised, as he is extremely talented in this field. You will see what I mean once he starts the illustration process... He met and spoke to RAMSEY CAMPBELL who is Brittan's most respected living horror author - An honor indeed!

The TV interview looms closer, and the work continues - Keep those emails coming - I really appreciate each and every one!

I've had some inquiries about publishing other authors books in the same fashion as this one - That's an interesting thought - I have come up with a few ideas, and hey, who knows - there may be a business opportunity staring me right in the face...

I would like to say hello to all the people who will be reading this from the Horror Writers Convention in Toronto this week - I wish I could have attended, but work was fairly unforgiving - a good thing business wise, but not so good if you want to take a few days off... The interview for TV about the Novel, the Second Life aspect of the publishing (Madddyyy Schnook), and the Book Trailers (Robbie Dingo and Thinkerer Melville) went extremely well - The interviewer (Barbara from Eastlink) was wonderful - seems that we filled 2 disks, which seems like a lot... She covered absolutely EVERY aspect of this whole project! She was through, that's for sure - Great job, Barbara!

It will take a month or so for it to be aired, but they will give me a copy on DVD when it is ready, and I will post it here - you will be the first to see it!

Also, a very exciting development - Peter, who is a professional artist, has agreed to re-draw the cover of the novel, plus an illustration for every chapter, and chapter markers. This is starting to look more and more like a professional Novel every day! Pete sent me some of his past drawings, and they are among the best that I have ever seen. The detail is absolutely incredible... Stay tuned to see his work. He will be attending the Horror Writers Convention in Toronto next week, and he will also be advertising his work, and this Novel. Thanks Pete! (I wish I could go, but work and all...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

There were also a couple of mentions on Blogs, not to mention a Podcast talking about the book in Second Life! I will post those here this weekend for you to take a look at and a listen to...

It's been a busy week - Been down with the Flu thats going around, and also been sending out press releases. There was a great write up on the Blog of International Bestselling Author M.J. Rose that can be found here -> CLICK TO VIEW . She took the time to add it to her "Buzz, Balls & Hype - Because there are over 175,000 books published a year and they can't all get reviews in the NYTBR." (New York Times Book Review).
Many thanks to her for taking the time! Much appreciated, and if you are looking for a resource to see what's new, her blog is a fantastic resource. Definitely check it out!

As the TV interview looms, I find myself getting nervous - after all, I'm as scary to look at as the Novel is to read. This aught to be interesting - When you turn on your TV and see an idiot staring back at you wordlessly drooling and twitching, you will know that it's me. The press releases are going out, and so far Eastlink Magazine is sending a film crew to my house on he 14th of March to film about a 15 minute interview! They are particularly interested in the Second Life aspect of this Novel. I will post this on the BLOG once I have a copy of it... This is a fantastic opportunity that I hope to take full advantage of.

I have also set up a vendor in Second Life to sell advertising to the businesses in world...

We Have Videos for Second Life!

Hi Everybody!

A few weeks ago, I put a call out on Second Life to film makers for help with a commercial / advertisement for the Novel - a few came forward, and some fantastic film work ensued.

A fellow named Thinkerer Melville (http://www.thinkerer.org/Studios/StuIntro.htm) and his designer Orhalla Zander (http://www.thinkerer.org/Friends/FRNZander.htm) (Selby Evans and Jayson Murphy in real life) took up the call. Zan built an awesome set on an island within Second Life, and this piece of Magic was produced - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v5OuoeWv_4 (They even let me operate the hand!)

Thanks goes out to them for a job well done - The set will be set up in Second Life and used to hand out the Free Novels.

After they took on the job, another fellow named Robbie Dingo (Rob Wright in Real Life) - He graciously took a first draft of the voice over, and applied his talents to come up with this beauty - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YQ-MCiXCZk . As if that was not enough, he also re-built the Novel so that we now have a bookmark feature, and a slider along the bottom! Awesome work - we all thank you for that added functionality!

The new look and extremely awesome new functionality of the online novel have been posted. I can't thank a fellow named Rob Wright in the UK enough - This fellow is extremely talented, and has added some cool new options to the Novel. He added a fantastic new slider to the bottom of the book that will allow you to navigate to any page in a flash, simply slide the control to the page that you want and Bam! You are there immediately! Not only that, but a (drum roll please) new Bookmark button! That's right, you can now set a bookmark where you leave off, and come back to the novel months later and just click the "Go To Bookmark" button, and it will remember the page that you set! How cool is that? A HUGE thanks to Rob for that! It makes for a much easier, MUCH more user friendly reading experience!

I will be posting more news about Rob tomorrow, as it seems that his talents definitely do not end there - What I will announce and post for you to enjoy tomorrow will blow you away, without a doubt!

What is the importance of the old picture on Grandma Rose's wall? After all, it's just plaster and glass, isn't it? Can something as simple as this old antique play a part in the nightmare that is just starting to unfold for Mark? Is there something that she knows, perhaps a story untold? Or is there much more....

A gentleman in Texas names Selby is doing the production of the 1 minute trailer / advertisement in Second Life, and the set is almost complete. His designer, Zander, is one extremely talented fellow, and is currently building a 3-d model of the tree on the front cover to shoot the very first scene in the book. I tell you, the talent of these two is huge! This will be one spooky trailer that will get a lot of notice for sure... It will be posted on You Tube, and on this blog, as well as sent out to every Major media agency in North America and abroad... It will add a completely new spin to this entire Novel.

Cheers goes out to Andy in the UK, The virtual publisher of this novel in Second Life - he has perfected the virtual version of the novel that will be given away to whoever want it of the over 3.5 million residents of Second Life - You can now adjust the brightness, specify how many pages you would like to skip ahead or backwards, turn page flipping sound on or off, adjust the size of the actual novel, among other things - It is truly cutting edge in Second Life, and it may very well change the face of publishing in world - Great work, Andy!

Well, this is the big week! The Novel has been successfully published in Second Life, Andy did a fantastic job! The Press release is written, and he is busy adding them to all his hundreds of in world vendors to get them out to the public. He has already placed a sign up in his shop where people can take a free copy, and immediately on putting it up, 26 were taken!

I have Cybernetic Media (http://www.cyberneticmedia.com/) working on a new home page that will make navigation easier to do, that should be ready by Monday, then the press releases begin.

Thanks to everybody for all the fan mail - I really enjoy reading them all! If I haven't got back to you yet, don't worry, I will.

Pages 108 -114 are now posted – The bully gets his, and Mark tries to make sense of his dreams… Chapter 5 begins – Confessions.

Andy in the UK is still trying to get the coding for the novel in Second Life to work properly once published – He is a perfectionist who will not settle for a shoddy looking end product – much like myself… I would rather it take a week or two longer than anticipated, rather than go off half cocked, and have an end product that is anything less than perfect. Huge thanks go out to Andy for all his effort – a testament to his professionalism. Great work so far Andy!

I got some more fan mail from Quebec this time – Thanks so much for your kind words – Yes, I love doing this as much as you enjoy reading it! Keep the emails coming!

I have recruited the talent of Cybernetic Media, and www.hestillwatches.com will soon have a new flash launch pad for the three destinations – the short story, the online novel, and the BLOG. This will make it a lot easier to navigate, and will make more sense to anybody just finding the page on the web… Also more comprehensive for the scores of media who visit the site. David at Cybernetic is the best in the industry, so I can’t wait to see what he comes up with – I’m not asking much, just a site that rivals Stephen King’s – Is that too much to ask? (Well, OK – I guess it is – but if anybody can do it, David can!)

Pages 94-100 are online and posted! Enjoy! - The 100 page milestone has been reached !!!

Well, thanks to a virtual publisher in "Second Life" (http://secondlife.com/) named Andy (Madddyyy Schnook in SL) who is based in the UK, The Novel is being published in the Virtual World of Second Life! - This is huge, because the population of this virtual world is 2.2 MILLION real people!!! This will not only take the Novel world wide, but will also officially make it a Virtual Horror Novel for a Virtual World - How cool is that?

The book will be free to anybody that wants one - they will get a new one every week, same as in the real world, and the businesses in Second Life will be encouraged to advertise either their Second Life or Real Life Businesses - and the ad will appear in both SL and RL at the same time! The attention this is going to grab is going to be massive...

I will update more as things progress - Andy is busy converting my Novel into SL, and it will be ready on Monday - Then the media gets involved - Even the US Library is getting involved along with all the Universities associated - more on that to follow... There will be pics, interviews, all sorts of goodies...

The break with family was wonderful, and I am itching to get going with the Novel again - However there is a small glitch that seems to have happened with the Internet Service Provider - The server seems to be down, and their office is closed - Hayley will get back to me soon (They are AWESOME over at Liberated Networks - She works weekends from home - Now THAT'S dedication! - I Highly Recommended them!)

Pages 94-100 are ready to go, and will be posted once this glitch is rectified...

Can you believe it? Only 10 more days till Christmas! My children are almost bouncing off of the walls in anticipation, even though they are getting older. Hey, they know that no matter what, they get some great gifts. That’s the best gift of all to me – to see their faces. Ahhh, life is good….

I had a bit of a brain hiccup the other day. Seeing as how I am offering ad spots from page 12 onward, I got to thinking – If you would like to purchase a spot for someone that you know, I will send a special email to them on Christmas informing them of the spot, and who it is from. I figure it will make for some really great Christmas gifts! (Think about it – Advertising for a very, very long time…)

Are you ready for Christmas yet?

No, I didn't think so - the household is kinda nuts - but it will be our best Christmas ever, that's for sure! I know it is a lot of work, but it sure is worth it when you see the children's faces... They grow up too fast.

Well, Chapter Four has begun - "What goes around"... Time for some more action. Mark will start to understand that something is happening...

I've also been checking out a site called Second Life - Pretty cool stuff - it's an online community with virtual residents and a thriving virtual economy. There are store fronts where you can buy things for your avatar to own - I am thinking of somehow offering advertising to the virtual resident businesses - a virtual novel for a virtual world - seems to fit... If anybody knows how to code for that type of thing, please contact me - I think I will need a little help...

It's been another great week of writing - Mark Morris's character is almost fully established, and you are learning more about his family. Mark's abusive alcoholic step-father, and his subservient mother Louise have entered the story. With all that out of the way, now the really good stuff can start! OOoooooo..... No foreshadowing there! The next few months of writing is really going to be fun!

Nothing really new to report, just lots of writing - still working on the re-filming of the video prologue.

It has been another fun week of writing - The next seven pages are up and posted for your enjoyment.

I have received a few emails asking about the possibility of adding bookmarks - I am consulting a programmer to see if this is even possible through cookies, but for now, the best I can offer is the navigation buttons bottom left - these make skipping forward much faster. I'm also looking at other options to make navigation easier...

Also, I am re-doing the video prologue - I think you will like the new version that I am going to try to finish this week or next... In the mean time, I removed the old one, as with the weekly posting, it was not accurate...

I also have a major publication (no names mentioned just yet) looking at advertising in the Novel... Stay tuned to find out who - you will never guess!

It's been an interesting week. Lots of writing, and I have started marketing locally a little bit. This posting once a week affords me much more time to write and more to read in one shot. Definitely a much better combination. Thanks to everybody who sent emails leading to this.

I did a couple of upgrades to the flipping novel - should work good now. Also added a Favicon for the browser - gotta love technology! Now when you create a shortcut on your desktop, it will have a smiling face looking at you! (If you can't see it, simply clear your casch and you will see it...)

I am thinking of a few changes to make this a little more enjoyable for the reader - I seem to be getting a lot of email suggesting that one page per day is getting a bit hard to follow. The general consensus seems to be still doing a page per day, but posting a weeks worth at a time. I will of course start with 7 posted to start, then go to posting 7 pages once a week. (If you object or agree - email me and let me know! Unless I get some major opposition, I will probably start this on Sunday this week...)

Hey, I guess this is a learning experience - I'll find the proper balance yet... This is just too much fun! Wait till we really get going with the story! It's enough to give you some serious nightmares!

Once I get further along, I will change each button to auto-flip instantly to each chapter. Pretty cool, huh?

Page 24 is up for your reading pleasure - Improvements to the flipping Novel are on the way - Now that we are getting more and more pages, I am developing an automatic tab system that will allow you to skip forward to preset points in the novel - I am thinking page 20, 40, 60, etc. - It will save the reader valuable reading time, not to mention adding to the overall coolness of the novel. I will also be adding a Video Prologue - on the inside of the flipping cover - sound cool? Just wait till you see it!

The fan mail - I just can't believe it! I am getting mail from as far away as the Yukon (Cheers Deb!) all the way to Revelstoke, BC (Thanks for the donation, Kathryn!) to Halifax, NS (Thanks for the kind words and encouragement Donna!)

All the others that I didn't mention, please forgive me - I personally answer any and all email, and appreciate each and every piece sent - Thanks everybody - I will not disappoint you!

With that, pages 12 and 13 posted tonight (I am one page ahead of myself now - Thanksgiving is coming, and I will be spending it with my family - after all, what is more important?)

I will only charge a small fee to change the Ad, but the owner of that ad can certainly put it on EBAY at any time that they see fit - after all, the last few pixels on the Million Dollar Homepage went for what, $180,000.00 or something huge like that!

It will be a smart investment . Keep in mind that you don't have to be a company - I am more than willing to place a person's name on the spot with an email address rather than a link so people can make you offers on the spot....Aaaaaa.....something to think about!

The CBC interview went well!

Some of you may have heard the interview that aired yesterday across Canada on the CBC - Thanks go out to Kelly R. from Freestyle... what a great interview! I am working on getting an mp3 copy ...
As it turns out, I not only got a vast multitude of hits yesterday on the story, but I got my first bid on Page one on EBAY - Whoever gets this page will be at the forefront of this project, and will be the most seen Ad in the book - Indeed a part of Internet history. Where else are you ever going to get exposure like that for so little?
Thanks to all the people who sent me emails of encouragement and support for this project.

Radio...Coooooool.....

I am one lucky guy! CBC Radio World Report (Freestyle) in Vancouver, BC - Kelly Ryan to be more specific - came across the interview in The Daily News - Long story short, she is being AWESOME and is going to interview me next week live and on air (The interview will also play over the Sirius Satellite Radio Network, no less!)... (Did I say AWESOME?!?)

She says that all 3 of her listeners would find this interesting - So I thought hey, If we merged all of my fans, and added her three, WOW! we'd have - Ummmmm - lemme see.... Ughhhhh - 3! Three between us! Who can argue with those numbers? :-) (Actually, that's just her being modest - her show has quite a following...)

I am really looking forward to this interview - Kelly seems to be a VERY personable lady, and I can't thank her enough for this opportunity.

I will record a podcast, an make it available for download for all my many, koff koff, many ... ummmm ok, maybe one or two fans - (koff koff) - Mom, you'll be my fan, won't you? (insert cricket chirping sound here).... Mom?

The interest is rising...

I am too happy - I am getting all kinds of people sending me emails offering encouragement, offers to cross promote, and even an offer to help! (Thanks Brandon...You rock, buddy!)

All the while, I have been writing. I will be posting more pages shortly. I have a few businesses ready to start advertising soon, the hard part is getting them to take that plunge. Not a worry - while that happens, I will continue to write. I am sending out more press releases to a more international mix - My hope is that it will get more recognition for the novel all over the world. I just love getting emails internationally - The last one I got from outside of North America was from a young fellow from Egypt. He told me that my short account of events had scared him so much that he had to sleep with his lights on... Thanks, I think. (I hope it was the story, NOT my writing skills, or lack thereof, that scared him!

I will keep you posted on what happens with my latest round of press releases.

The Interview...

It finally happened - I put out a few press releases, and "The Daily News" (A local Halifax newspaper) called and interviewed me about the novel on Thursday - They are coming over to my house tomorrow with a photographer - wow! But am I nervous? HELL YES I'M NERVOUS! - Am I ever! I just hope that I don't say something embarrassing...Ahh, I probably will, so why worry?

I'm told that the story will run on Monday in the Business section - they really seem to like the advertising aspect of my idea... I have a couple of businesses lied up for spots, so this is heating up.

As a bonus note - I have (through much tweaking) managed to make the ads into clickable links on the bottom of each page - The ads will now bring up the advertisers web page - That's a Gooood thing!That adds some value to the spots.

Well, wish me luck - I will post both how the session goes tomorrow, and the story & Photos on Monday.

Today's The Day!

Well, I did some more work on character development and plot direction - I am now working on adding a page per day at the very least.
On Saturday, I was getting some work done on my vehicle at the local garage, and there was a fellow waiting for his car while reading a paperback novel - we got into a conversation, and I explained my novel and the advertising idea that I had - This fellow almost fell over telling me what a great idea that was. This is the same reaction that I have got from 100% of everybody that I told my hair brained idea to so far, so it is extremely encouraging to say the least.
All I can do is hope that others think so as well - I sent out some press releases today as to the best of my rather limited ability in this area - I guess at the very least, I will have given some good laughs to news editors across the Maritimes. Hey, they need some humor every now and again too...
Well, its time to either fly, or fall flat on my face. I hope this catches on. Well, you never know.

For now, I look forward to getting to the business of writing -I have to get some of this stuff out of my head and onto paper to make some room so I can remember my own phone number once more.

What was I talking about again? Oh well - back to work...

Almost there...

This is absolutely fantastic! We now have our second advertiser - Liberated Networks - All I can say is if you EVER need web hosting, these guys are the ones to go to - they are by far the best! Many thanks to Hayley for setting up and transferring all of my domains, not to mention the MYSQL database - Great job!

While all this is being done, I am readying for the mass issuance of the press release - should be going out today or tomorrow. You can see the release on the right hand side of the Blog under "Links to the Story". Take a look, let me know your thoughts...

Oh Happy Day

And the crowd goes wild!... WooHoo!!! I had my first paying AD today! On Page 2 - Slim Gyms Fitness For Men - They loved the idea! Don and Dale are a couple of really great guys. Good for them, they will get lots of exposure here. I have the websites all up and ready to go, so I will issue the press release very soon, and we will see from there.

Here we go!

Well, I have been extremely busy over the last week. I have posted the short true story that serves as the inspiration for the novel. although loosely based on this story, the novel itself will be fictional - Call it my form of therapy!

The story can be viewed here, and the online novel that will remain online for all to view for free, can be found here.

How does my idea differ from all the other novel writers out there on the web? Well, rather than chase the publishing companies, trying to convince them to pen a deal, I chose to open it up to the public, effctively bypassing them. I am offering 2 things here - the story online free for anybody to read and follow through the months of development ahead, and the undoubitidly numerous revisions that will follow - buy a book? Why, when you can read it online for free! Pass the link on to all your friends, so that they too can follow. The more the merrier!

Secondly, in order to help fund this project(not to mention help support my family) I am offering advertising on each and every page of this online novel. Given the surge of online advertising, and the targeted market that will be viewing, and re-viewing this novel, advertising will be a wise investment for anybody that wants to invest in it. They can be a part of what could be the new way to write books, without authors having to depend on advances from publishing companies.

I am set up with PayPal to accept credit card payments and donations (Any small donation will be greatly appriciated), to aid in the creation of this novel.

The lucky companies that will get all the attention will be the first to take the chance, and purchase advertising space. As this is a work in progress, I will post the text as I write it, many times a week, but the pages will be there, awaiting their portion of the story - anybody who purchases advertising will be placed on the next available page, which if not already covered in text, will be shortly. This is only the first revision, so the text will change many times over the course of creation, but the pages and advertising will always remain the same.

So, to all the companies out there, what have you got to loose? You have everything to gain, and you will also have my gratitude for helping to make this dream a reality!

I have a dream...

Welcome!

Allow me to introduce myself - My name is Dale A. Moses.

I like to think of myself as a Family man, Friend, Computer Geek, all around great guy and normal fellow... The quiet guy next door that you wave to every now and again, but never really gives you any reason to look twice. (Wow - now that I think about it , that's what you always hear the neighbours quoted as saying in the newspaper - "He seemed to be a nice enough guy who kept mostly to himself - Wow, with an ax, you say?") Hmmmmm...

I am a lot of things, but a novelist is not one of them.

Yet, that is.

I have been faced with the cruel reality of today's economy in Nova Scotia - I am being laid off after 6 years of faithful service, due to a "business slowdown" and "a business decision" made by the new owner. Bottom line, I'm outta work, and the pay stops here.

Naturally, I have to think of my family first and foremost, so I search for that elusive and ever hard to find job in the IT field that matches my specialized talents (Or lack thereof, as it may be) - not an easy thing in Halifax, especially since there are not too many huge IT companies out here...

I take this endeavor very seriously, and have no doubt that I will get another job to support my family with, but faced with such a challenge, a good optimist will always see a window open where a door closes.

I have a story to tell, and this is my opportunity to do so, and combine it with some of my (employable) skills in a fashion that I have really never seen done on the web before... I always did like to be the first one to try something....

I will divulge the details that you can be a part of if you choose later this week.

I am preparing a press release, and although I don't know if my idea will catch on, it will truly be a "Novel" approach to writing a novel! (Hey, its no red paper clip, but who knows....)
